UNIVIEW IPC2325SB-DZK-IO Bullet 5MP LightHunter Varifocal IP Camera

The UNIVIEW IPC2325SB-DZK-IO is a bullet-style IP camera from Uniview’s CCTV range. It combines 5 megapixel image capture with a varifocal lens and Uniview’s LightHunter low-light technology. It is aimed at installers and businesses that need a clear, adjustable view of an outdoor or indoor area and want a camera that fits into a networked surveillance system.
Key features
- 5 megapixel image sensor for higher detail than standard definition cameras
- Varifocal lens with a focal length of 2.7 to 13.5 millimetres
- LightHunter low-light technology for better picture quality in dim conditions
- Bullet housing, a common form for visible, wall or pole mounted surveillance
- IP camera design that transmits video over a network connection
Image quality and low light
Image quality depends on the lens, the lighting and the position of the camera. The 5MP sensor records more pixels than a typical 2MP camera, which means a person or vehicle can be recognised at a greater distance or a licence plate can be read more easily when the camera is set up well. LightHunter is Uniview’s name for its low-light imaging approach. It is intended to keep images clearer when there is little light, so the camera can be useful at dawn, dusk and at night, where lighting is limited.
Lens and field of view
The varifocal lens covers 2.7 to 13.5 millimetres. At the wide end, the camera sees a broader area, which suits covering a yard, a car park or a building frontage. At the telephoto end, it narrows the view to focus on a gate, a door or a distant point. Adjusting the lens during installation lets you match the coverage to the site. After any change, check the image on a monitor or recorder to confirm that the important area is in view and in focus.
Network connection and recording
As an IP camera, the unit connects to a network and sends its video to a network video recorder, a PC running management software or another compatible system. This allows footage to be recorded centrally, reviewed locally and, where the network and software permit, viewed remotely. Plan your network cabling, IP addressing and storage capacity before installation, since high resolution footage uses more bandwidth and disk space than standard definition recording.
Typical uses
- Monitoring shop fronts, entrances and loading areas
- Covering car parks, driveways and external yards
- Securing warehouses, storage buildings and outbuildings
- Observing perimeters, gardens and boundary walls
- Adding visual coverage to an existing Uniview or other IP-based CCTV system
Before you buy
Confirm that the camera suits your site, power arrangement and recorder or software. Check the mounting location, the height and angle needed, and the distance to the area you want to cover. Ask your installer to verify the lens setting and the night time image, as this is the most common cause of disappointing results. Keep the lens clean, protect the cable connections from weather, and plan for regular checks of the image quality over time.
