UNIVIEW Turret 5MP 20M IR 2.8mm Lens Camera

UNIVIEW Turret 5MP 20M IR 2.8mm Lens Camera

The UNIVIEW Turret 5MP 20M IR 2.8mm Lens is a dome-style CCTV camera designed for fixed surveillance of entrances, car parks, yards and building perimeters. Its turret housing gives it the classic compact shape used in many security installations.

The camera records at 5 megapixels (5MP), which provides a higher level of image detail than standard definition cameras. This helps when you need to read more detail in a scene, such as people, vehicles or signage, within the camera’s field of view.

Infrared (IR) illumination with a 20 metre (20M) range allows the camera to capture images in low light or at night, when visible light is limited. The 2.8mm fixed lens gives a wide viewing angle, so one camera can cover a broad area close to the mounting point.

Because the lens is fixed, the camera is set up once to cover its target area and does not require adjustment of zoom or focus during operation. This makes it a straightforward choice for installers who want a reliable, fixed-view camera for general monitoring.

Typical uses include shop fronts, offices, warehouses, schools, apartment blocks and outdoor areas where constant monitoring is required. It can be part of a wider CCTV system with other UNIVIEW cameras and a compatible recorder.

UNIVIEW Turret 5MP 20M IR 2.8mm Lens Camera

The UNIVIEW Turret 5MP 20M IR 2.8mm Lens is a turret-style CCTV camera for fixed video surveillance. It combines a 5 megapixel image sensor, infrared night illumination with a 20 metre range and a fixed 2.8mm lens in a compact turret housing. It suits installers and businesses who need a dependable camera for watching entrances, corridors, outdoor areas and other fixed locations.

Key features

  • 5 megapixel (5MP) resolution for detailed images
  • Infrared (IR) night illumination with a 20 metre (20M) range
  • Fixed 2.8mm lens for a wide viewing angle
  • Compact turret design for ceiling or wall mounting
  • Part of the UNIVIEW CCTV camera range

Image quality

A 5 megapixel sensor records more pixels than standard definition or 2 megapixel cameras. This extra detail makes it easier to identify people, number plates and objects in the scene, provided the camera is aimed and positioned correctly. Image quality also depends on lighting, lens choice, mounting height and the recording system used.

Night viewing

The built-in infrared lighting allows the camera to produce images in darkness. The rated range of 20 metres means the illumination reaches objects up to about 20 metres from the camera under suitable conditions. Objects that are closer and within the lens field of view are generally captured most clearly. Reflective surfaces close to the lens can cause glare, so placement should be planned carefully.

Lens and field of view

The 2.8mm lens is a wide-angle fixed lens. It covers a broad area from a single mounting point, which is useful for monitoring open spaces, rooms and entrances. Because the focal length is fixed, the camera cannot zoom. If you need to view a small area at a distance, a longer lens option should be considered instead.

Installation

Plan the camera position before mounting. Consider the height, the viewing angle, the lighting in the area and the distance to the main subjects. Connect the camera to a compatible network video recorder or management system according to the installation requirements. Check that cable runs, power supply and network settings are suitable before final fixing.

Typical uses

  • Shop fronts and retail floors
  • Office reception and corridors
  • Warehouses and storage yards
  • Car parks and loading bays
  • Schools, colleges and public buildings
  • Residential blocks and building perimeters

Choosing this camera

This model is suited to general-purpose fixed surveillance where a 5MP image and night-time infrared coverage are needed. It can be combined with other cameras and recording equipment in a larger CCTV system. Confirm the required field of view, mounting position and recording requirements before ordering to make sure the 2.8mm lens and 20 metre infrared range match the site.
